UNBOXED celebrates creative talent and innovation right across the UK and continues throughout October. The projects are dedicated to science, tech and the arts – it's all about inspiring innovation in UK communities.
In Weston-super-Mare, a decommissioned North Sea offshore platform has been transformed into a public art installation.
35 metres tall and set on four levels, SEE MONSTER features a waterfall, a slide, gardens, an amphitheatre, wind turbines and a solar tree – all covered in 6,000 kinetic scales that ripple in the wind. Oh, and did we mention the 10metre-high waterfall?
This epic piece of conceptual art celebrates environmentalism, creativity, fantasy and play. It has to be seen to be believed.
Our Place in Space is a recreation of the solar system as a stunning 8.1 km sculpture trail.
It's designed by artist Oliver Jeffers, astrophysicist Professor Stephen Smartt and other creatives.
The trail will touch down in Liverpool on 14 October, before returning to Northern Ireland in February 2023 at the Ulster Transport Museum.
It features scale models of the Sun and planets, recreated as contemporary art sculptures. Colourful arches house each planet with an arrow and the name of the planet lit up in Las Vegas style lights.
