Walls have been built since ancient times, to mark borders, to keep enemies out or to keep people in. In more recent times walls have also been built to serve as memorials and structures of art.
Cinque Terre is undeniably one of the most beautiful areas of Italy; a visit to just one of its towns will confirm this. Located in northwest Italy, its five towns are built on steep hills and atop high cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean.
