Dear kopral,
If you're after some winter sun, or just want to get away from it all for the festive season, here at Rough Guides we have collated 10 countries you can still travel to over the holidays. Be sure to check government guidelines before you book your getaway, but if you get the green light, don't look back! From the bright sunshine and sparkling waters of The Maldives to a stonking safari adventure in Kenya and Tanzania, here's our top pick of the countries open for travel during Covid.
Also this week, we cross the globe to Japan to bring you the perfect 5-day itinerary in Soya Hokkaido. Among the country's northernmost regions, there's so much to see and do here, from climbing to vertiginous viewpoints to feeding seals and preparing sea urchins for your supper.
And if you're using your daily exercise to get out and about on your bicycle, you're in for a treat. We've collated some seriously brilliant bike routes in the UK, from the Camel Trail in Cornwall to the Elan Trail in Mid Wales, Northern Ireland's Kingfisher Trail and – for serious cyclists – the North Coast 500 in Scotland. There's something for every ability and timeframe, so get pedaling!
Have fun,
