5. Minnesota

Coming from the west coast, Minnesota was a refreshing alternative. We were able to travel all the way north to the border of Canada and take a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters. Known as the state of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota had no shortage of fishing holes and quiet campsites by the water. Minnesota is not a state that you would typically find included in a top 10 list of road trip destinations, but to us, that's what made it so special.
