5	Historic Landmark — The Ace Hotel building was originally open for business in 1904. First known as the Hotel Breslin, it was a residential hotel for many years. The surrounding area was home to a full avenue of hotels, giving the stretch of Broadway between 23rd and 29th Streets the famed nickname, "the Great White Way" in part because of all of the electric lights spelling out the many hotel names.
