and Coronavirus in Rwanda: chatting with Belise Kariza to learn more about the country's experience of coronavirus.
Dear kopral,
It's a week for hikers and lovers of the great outdoors – and what better way to blow the lockdown cobwebs away than an epic trek through jaw-dropping scenery? There are plenty of options if you want to stay closer to home, and social distancing in the mountains couldn't be more of a breeze. We follow Rough Guides author and photographer, Marta Bescos, on a week-long hike through the Aragonese Pyrenees – think: plunging canyons and crystal-clear mountain springs – complete with all the travel tips so you can follow in her wake.
For mountains on a whole different scale, we travel to Rwanda in the African Rift Valley. Its hauntingly beautiful landscapes are one of the last remaining refuges for the mighty mountain gorilla. We chatted with Belise Kariza, Chief Tourism Officer at the Rwanda Development Board, to learn more about the country's effective coronavirus strategy, as well as the virus' impact on travel and Rwanda's famous wildlife.
Have fun,
Helen

The Aragonese Pyrenees offers spectacular hiking, with dramatic landscapes characterized by plunging canyons, steep wooded hillsides and glassy rivers. This summer, Rough Guides writer and photographer Marta Bescos spent a weeklong trip traversing the Ordesa Valley. Here, she chronicles her route, with all the details so you can follow in her footsteps.
Rwanda's jaw-dropping mountainscapes include the volcanic Virungas, one of the last remaining habitats of the mighty mountain gorilla. Despite coping extremely well with Covid-19, Rwanda has faced a unique challenge in protecting its vulnerable gorilla population – as well as its human one. We chatted with Belise Kariza, Chief Tourism Officer at the Rwanda Development Board, to learn more about the country's experience of coronavirus.
