Deadly Storm

Hurricane Helene killed 40 people and left millions without power as it roared the southeast. The National Hurricane Center downgraded the storm to a post-tropical cyclone on Friday evening.

Helene reached maximum sustained winds of 140 mph when it made landfall late Thursday in Florida's rural Big Bend area. The area is home to fishing villages and vacation homes. Property damage has been estimated to be between $15 billion to $26 billion, according to Moody's Analytics.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said there are 4.4 million power outages in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. More than 50,000 utility personnel from 27 states are being sent to the affected areas. Follow the live updates here›

Israel Bombs Hezbollah HQ

Israel launched an attack on the central command of Hezbollah on Friday, leveling several buildings in a series of missile strikes. It remains unclear if Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah was killed in the strike.

News of the strike came less than an hour after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech to the U.N. General Assembly in New York City vowing to continue fighting Hezbollah until the organization was no longer a threat to Israel.

Hezbollah began attacking Israel almost immediately after the Hamas-led terror attack on Israel on Oct. 7 last year. Fighting between Israel and the Lebanese terrorist group has driven tens of thousands of people from their homes on both sides of the border in the time since. Read the full story here›

Trump Meets Zelenskyy

Former President Donald Trump, who has promised to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours if reelected, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York City. Trump said he "learned a lot," but that his view on the war has not changed.

"We both want to see this end, and we both want to see a fair deal made, and it's going to be fair," Trump said. "And I think that'll happen at the right time, I think it's going to happen. [Zelenskyy] wants it to end and he wants it to end as quickly as possible. He wants a fair transaction to take place."

Following the meeting, Zelenskyy said the war should not have happened in the first place. He added that the United States can take the lead when it comes to negotiating a settlement. Read the full story here›

Teaching Good Manners to Children
Teaching Good Manners to Children
"The essence of good manners is thoughtfulness and thinking about others as well as yourself," says Jennifer L. Scott, author of the Madame Chic book series. When it came time to teach her oldest child good manners, she found she had no guide to turn to. So she wrote her own—"Connoisseur Kids."

Along the way, she's learned that parents' top concerns regarding etiquette are table manners and communication. "Connoisseur Kids" offers many tips to teach children the ins and outs of navigating different social situations. What makes Scott's guidance stand out is that it's rooted in a sense of fun and joy.

"Do everything with a happy heart! When you mess up, just pick yourself up and start again. Tomorrow always holds new opportunities," she explains.
