Prepare to be tested before check-in.

Hotels and guest houses may require you to show a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival and undergo testing every 72 hours, or proof of vaccination or recovery, so be sure to check in advance.

Places are open—with some restrictions.

German shops, movie theaters, nightclubs, restaurants, bars, museums, and other tourist attractions are currently open. However, capacity limitations and proof of vaccination, recovery, or a recent negative test should be expected. In high-risk areas, such as Berlin and Hamburg, a test will not be sufficient, and only proof of vaccination and recovery will be required for entry to many places.

Research and book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Since museums, cultural events, and other tourist attractions may still require advanced reservation and limit the number of visitors, it's advisable to check their websites before visiting.
