| | | | | | | | | So, what sets Unity Tactical FAST mounts apart from everyone else? Traditionally it's been considered better to have as little height over bore as possible, but as technology and tactics progressed, height over bore has become widely debated and has changed depending on need. We'd have to write a novel if we were to address every fundamental concept that has shifted the debate in favor of the type of mounts from Unity Tactical, but when actual professionals and experts in the tactical fields are running such equipment, the shooting community tends to take notice. Onto the FAST mounts: Unity height is almost perfect for a "head up" posture, making it far easier to keep both eyes where they need to be. Allowing you to keep a solid cheek weld on even the lowest profile of stocks, while maintaining essential situational awareness and peripheral vision that's easily lost if dipping your face deep into the stock. Not only that but it's at the ideal height for those of you who run night vision. You'll have the ability to aim passively through your red dot with NODs, while continuing to hold your rifle in a comfortable and effective position. Many NOD setups cause you to hunch your head down and canting it to one side. It's uncomfortable and difficult to hold while maintaining accuracy, which is one of the many reasons why high height over bore setups are making a comeback. The last thing to note about the FAST mounts: Contained within the mount is a complete set of backup iron sights, eliminating the need for a standalone set of emergency "last-ditch" sights. If you pair the rear Unity sight with another integrated front sight post you achieve a full carbine length sight radius so it's ready to go. The material that is predominantly used is 7075-T6 Aluminium, this is then "type III" hardcoat anodized in either Black or FDE. 7075-T6 Aluminium provides a strong yet light material to form the mount, with most of the material cut away, lightening the mount further still. The hard-coat anodizing ensures that the aluminum doesn't suffer from any oxidization, and improves the durability of threaded components (preventing "galling"). | | | | |
