Considered one of the best resorts in the world, and often ranked the best in Southeast Asia, The Standard's location in Hua Hin, Thailand, is an experience unto itself. The small town has long been used as a vacation hideaway for the nation's nobility, and The Standard are letting visitors in on the secret. A delightful mix of rooms, suites, and villas adorn the property, each with their own charm and plenty of space to spread out. There are a number of options for dining and drinks here, from Italian at Lido to Thai at Praรงa, and each has its own flair. With plenty to do in the surrounding area and a top-notch spa on-site, you'll enjoy a fulfilling and relaxing vacation.
Napa Valley has long been a premier destination for aficionados of the finer things in life—a slice of Tuscany without the jet lag. When heading to the famed wine region, you can't do better than The Meritage Resort & Spa. A 40-acre property featuring nine acres of picturesque vineyards that glow against warm California sunsets, this obsession-worthy resort provides guests with everything they need to enjoy their leisure time. Take a dip in the pool, grab some local foods at the on-site market for a picnic in the vineyards, or enjoy a tasting session at one of the hotel's tasting rooms. The only limit here is your ability to fit everything in. If you're craving a unique spa experience, adventure 40 feet underground to the tranquil Estate Cave, formerly a wine cellar that has been transformed into the serene Spa Terra.
Despite being a city steeped in history, London is ever-evolving, and there is no greater example than the Shoreditch neighborhood. Its crown jewel, One Hundred Shoreditch—with its buzzy California-inspired rooftop bar and an underground cocktail lounge from Ryan "Mr Lyan" Chetiyawardana, the most renowned mixologist in London if not the world—serves as a perfect example of the "new" face of London. Upon retreating to your softly-lit room, you can expect a tranquil escape from the neighborhood hum, but don't let that fool you, as there are a plethora of stylish public and meeting spaces to gather.
Located in one of the longest continuously settled cities in the United States, The Merchant is full of history. The land led a former life as a sheriff's homestead before being destroyed and rebuilt as a sea merchant's mansion, carefully designed by a local architect and woodcarver. At one point, George Washington even stayed here on a trip to Salem. It's easy to see why he chose this building—the design, from the crown moldings to the brick exterior, is eye-catching. And while it's still historic-looking, we think he would've liked it even better today, given the recent updates like heated floors and gas fireplaces in every room.
