If there's one thing we've learned from the proliferation of workout and wellness trends on social media, it's that sometimes, a gimmick can be pretty effective at making health habits stick (case in point: cozy cardio). One that's been making the rounds lately is the "6-6-6 walking challenge." It's a simple formula aimed at helping you get moving — you walk for 60 minutes at either 6 a.m. or 6 p.m. (or both if you're ambitious). Start with a six-minute warm-up before kicking things up to a brisk walk, and then cool down for six minutes at the end. Here are some of the benefits.

That would be Portugal, according to a recent survey from Expatsi, a travel company specializing in helping people emigrate. In a survey of 116,000 Americans looking to make a big move, the popular destination came out No. 1 based on factors such as climate and affordability. This follows recent data that found U.S. tourists are visiting Portugal in record-setting droves, indicating Americans have the idyllic locale on their radars for both pleasure and permanent stays. Other hot spots for the expat-curious include Spain, the U.K., and Canada. See the rest of the top 10 list.

3 Years Post-Cancer Diagnosis, Nic Enright Made His MLB Debut

On Sunday, 28-year-old pitcher Nic Enright walked on the mound to make his MLB debut with the Cleveland Guardians. He struck out three players and threw two scoreless innings — and if you weren't aware of his story, you would never know he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma just a few years ago. "A day like yesterday makes the long, winding journey that it's been all worth it," Enright, who was drafted by Cleveland in 2019, said Monday. "Everything that I've gone through these last couple of years, to me, it's just a testament that while this disease is a terrible one, I never let it control me. I never let it dictate my life." He received the cancer diagnosis in 2022 after experiencing tightness in his neck. The next year, Enright made his way back to the Guardians as a minor league player following a stint with the Miami Marlins — all the while undergoing treatments before and after each season, which he'll continue to do at the end of this season as well. "You can't draw it up. It's just one of those cool things," said Guardians manager Stephen Vogt, per the Associated Press. "Just to see all that he's persevered through different organizations, coming back to Cleveland and getting to make his major league debut with the Guardians. It was a really special day for Nic and his family and [we're] really fortunate we were there to watch it." Though Enright was returned to the minors this week, if his past perseverance is any indication of his future, we have no doubt we'll be seeing him in the big leagues again.

Runner Invents Simple Solution to Make Group Races More Sustainable
Drew Angerer/Getty Images
If you've ever participated in a 5K, half-marathon, or any other group run, you might have noticed that disposable cups seem to outnumber the actual runners. That scene of copious plastic and paper cups strewn on the pavement stayed with Kristina Smitheafter she ran the California International Marathon in 2019. "I was just shocked that, even in California, it's not sustainable," Smithe told the Associated Press. So she decided to come up with a solution: She designed a lightweight and reusable silicone cup, which has since turned into a business called Hiccup Earth. The company has 70,000 cups that Smithe rents out to races as a sustainable alternative for the disposable onesthat get piled in trash cans and scattered on the ground. Six years after that 2019 marathon, Smithe estimated that she's toted her reusable cups to 137 races and saved 902,000 disposable cups from entering the landfill. "It's just a solution to a problem that's long overdue," Smithe said. See the cups in action.

On May 22, a massive (read: 443-foot-long) cargo ship ran aground just a few yards from Johan Helberg's home in Norway. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the story made international headlines — and created the opportunity for astonishing photos such as this one, taken from inside the house. Earlier this week, it was "time to say goodbye," Helberg told Norwegian broadcaster NRK, as salvagers pulled the ship back into the water.
